Meet Martinas Andrius
Martinas Andrius currently lives in Jamaica Plain, Massachusetts. He has been painting New England coastal landscapes since 2013, typically working with oil on canvas. You can find him spending the warmer days of the year on the corner of Newbury and Dartmouth Street in the Back Bay area of Boston, painting, displaying, promoting, and selling his art. Martinas has been trained by his father Mindaugas Andrius who is also a landscape painter. Both father and son have been collaborating and working on a series of landscape paintings called “Place of Mediation”. They both share a studio/gallery space in Jamaica Plain and regularly show their work together as a father and son duo. Mindaugas mostly paints on larger-medium size format and Martinas paints on medium-small sized paintings. The main body of work is inspired from locations on the North Shore, South Shore, and Cape Cod loactions. Focusing in specific towns within Newburyport, Plum Island, Salisbury, Crane Beach, Sandwich, Barnstable, Orleans, Truro, and Provincetown all within the State of Massachusetts.
Art represents a feeling, mood, expression, a scene of reality within pigment of color. The landscapes are fantasies of an existing location and a mood that represents a place of meditation, and a scene of isolation from the surrounding environment.
